The Outsiders

The main character, young Ponyboy is a part of a large group of boys of the outsiders, they call themselves 'Greasers'. Ponyboy unlike the lucky ones lives in a not-so-safe neighborhood with his brothers Darrel and Sodapop. Darrel, as the oldest of them all at a young age had to start taking care of Ponyboy and Sodapop after their parents were killed in a massive car accident a few years back. Even though they don't live like the 'Socs', the rich kids who happen to have a real hatred for the 'Greasers', the 'Greasers' have more love for each other than the 'Socs' could ever buy.

When the story first unfolds, the reader gets a first hand of what Ponyboy's life was all about. Ponyboy is first seen walking home from the movies and gets stopped by a group of Socs, but before the Socs get to give Ponyboy a really bad beat up, the rest of the Greasers came to protect him. Thats the thing with the Greasers, whenever one of their members are in trouble they are always there to protect one another. The Socs are only there to beat up the Greasers, which is why the readers of The Outsiders, have such a strong hatred for the Socs and a massive love for the Greasers. Even though it is just a book and just a story, the way the story is worded really pulls the reader from the heart and in a way shows them what family love is and how no matter what you should always love your family and anyone who is there for you even if you have nothing like the Greasers do, they have each other and thats what really matters.

One thing i liked about this book, is how with the simple story line with everything that is being said and done compliments the story as a whole. Another thing i also liked was that the story in a way related to my life, and lives all over the world. When Ponyboy almost got beat up and the rest of the gang came to protect him, it reminded me of what my family would have done if i was also in that situation.

I highly reccomend this book to the readers who like the the family type genere and wants something to relate to their lives.
