The Summer I Turned Pretty

The Summer I Turned Pretty, by Jenny Han is about Belly's love-triangle during the summers with her "brothers", crushes and everything in between Conrad and Jeremiah. Belly has known them ever since she was ten years old and between the years everything about her feelings for them, and their feelings for her have changed off and on.

Conrad, being the oldest seems to have all his priorities in order, and has a tendency to be the best at everything he does. He's a dark haired hottie; he plays the guitar, and to everyone else but Belly seems to have no interest in her. Belly's older brother, Steven, is really close friends with Conrad and Jeremiah, and knows that Belly has always had feelings for both Conrad and Jeremiah, but wants to spare her feelings so he doesn't tell her what they really think of her.

Jeremiah on the other hand, has always had an interest for Belly, but its only once in a while she ever realizes that he is trying to give her the time of day. But compared to Conrad Jeremiah doesn't stand a chance for Belly. Most of the readers of ‘The summer I Turned Pretty’, seem to think that Jeremiah is the best choice for Belly, and is annoyed by the fact that she ignores his time for her and goes for the one who barley know she is there. On the bright side the way Jenny Han wrote the story line it really puts the readers in a summery time mood, and makes them feel as if they were in the position of Belly.

One thing I liked about this book is that it was really unique in a way that instead of telling us (the reader) how Belly, Steven and the boys know each other and grew up together, Jenny shows us how over the years as a team each and every one of them has grown. During the book, Jenny takes us back in time to when Belly was 11, 12, 13, and 14 and what went on between the boys and Belly and how it has made them the kind of person they are now.

I highly recommend this book to the readers who like the teen romance/drama genera, this book will definitely keep you at the edge of your seat.
