When It Happens

When It Happens, by Susane Colasanti is about the life of Sara and Tobey, two high school lovers that are just looking for the right one, the person they can trust and love forever always. In the book each chapter is based on Sara’s point of view, or Tobey's point of view, this way it is easier for the reader to understand and view each side of the story first before choosing a side.

Sara is an A+ student that realizes that of her last year in high school she wants a real boyfriend, not some guy she dates just because he’s there. She wants Mr. Right, an A+ student, a guy who has his priorities in order; he will always be there when she needs him, and someone who is known by basically everyone in school. And that guy is Dave.

Tobey on the other hand is a slacker and takes high school as a joke. But when he meets Sara and unexpectedly falls in love with her, he realizes that in order to get with her, he needs to get his priorities straight as well. But first and foremost, he needs to get his grades up. Tobey starts to have daily meetings with the school counselor about college, homework, school work, and participating more during class. But can he do it? Can he keep up with a busy life filled with only doing homework and leaving out his beloved music? Can he do it for Sara?

When Sara found out that Tobey had feelings for her she couldn’t have been more disgusted in her life with knowing that. But once they start talking and getting to know one another, both Sara and Tobey realizes how much they mean to each other. Even Sara starts to have feelings for Tobey she didn’t even know she had. Feelings she didn’t even feel for Dave.
